Davenham Parish Council Newsletter
Davenham Scouts were delighted to contribute to the Davenham Parish Council Newsletter (November 2022) with the below text and images.
New Scout Hut and Community Centre
In June 2019, Davenham Scouts bought Peckmill Scout Wood, a small plot of land on the edge of Davenham comprising meadow, woodland, and a stream. Since then, the Scouts have levelled part of the meadow into a playing field, added a mains water connection, and most recently installed solar panels and floodlights to allow year-round outdoor meetings.
Peckmill Scout Wood is evolving for the benefit of the Scouts, and the wider Davenham community. And we’re pushing hard to keep on improving. In October, Davenham Scouts submitted plans to Cheshire West and Chester Council for a brand new, purpose built, Scout hut and community centre. We are delighted to present visuals of the building design.
The centre has been designed from the ground up bespoke for the whole Davenham community. Two fully accessible floors hosting different sized meeting spaces for all occasions: including space for community groups, and (of course!) Beaver, Cub, and Scout meetings.
We can’t wait to share more details about this exciting project with you in the coming months. Make sure to follow Davenham Scouts on Facebook and keep an eye on our website for the most recent updates on the planning and construction of Davenham’s latest community asset! #ThisIsABigDeal
