Davenham Carnival 2022

Date: 16th July 2022 Location: Butchers Stile Playing Field, Davenham Sections: Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Adult Volunteer

The biggest community event in Davenham – the annual carnival isn’t to be missed. Davenham Scouts will be running a stall so make sure to come and say hello to us. Please let us know if you are able to help us man our stall on the day.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts can take part in the procession. The meeting point is The Bull’s Head at midday. This year it is a walking procession from The Bull’s Head, up London Road, turn onto Fountain Lane and then Mount Pleasant. Finish point is Davenham Primary School and children must be collected from there by parents at around 1 pm – depends how fast/slow we walk!! Parents can of course walk along beside the procession.

Note: we are not responsible for any children after the procession – they must have parents to collect them and take them to the carnival field.

The carnival theme this year is the Queen’s Jubilee. We hope to get 7 Scouts to be pilots (jumpsuits and goggles?) to fly in our ‘Red Barrows’ display team – i.e. push red wheelbarrows in formation! Everyone else is asked to dress up in red, white and blue, plus their neckers. Maybe make a cape from a red, white or blue bin bag and stick a union flag on it? Wearing crowns or union flag themed headwear would also look good. And of course, flags for waving around are always fun!

After the procession, the carnival will be on Butchers Stile and we will have a stall there. Scouts are needed to help run the stall for half an hour or so each please. We will have a fundraising activity or two, plus we will be selling tickets for our Autumn Beer Festival.

More information is available on the Davenham Carnival website.
