In memory of Brian Sinfield

Date: 17th Feb 2023 Author: Scout Websites

Former scout leader Brian Sinfield passed away on 14 January 2023 after a short illness. Brian was a scout leader at 1st Davenham Scouts for over 10 years, contributing much time and experience which helped the development of many young people in our group.

Brian’s fellow scout leaders described him as a kind gentleman, who never needed to raise his voice at meetings as Scouts always listened to him. Brian will be missed by many former and current members of our group.

We are pleased to announce an annual award has been sponsored by a friend of Brian’s which is to be presented each year to a different young person in our group who excels at the things brian loved – volunteering, physical activity and creativity – all qualities which 1st Davenham Scouts strives to install in our young people. Further details of this award will be outlined in due course.

Brian is survived through his wife Wendy and son Mike, himself now a leader in our Cub section.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
