Call for volunteers to join Davenham Scouts

Date: 15th Nov 2023 Author: Mike Sinfield

We’re launching an appeal for new adults to join our team!

Our priorities are section leaders, fundraisers, and people with technical experience of construction and project management who could help in the design and construction of our new Scout Hall.

If you believe in giving young people #SkillsForLife then contact us today – we’d love to have you onboard!

Section Leaders

Do you want to build experience working with young people? Have you got a passion for the outdoors and pushing yourself? Then joining our team of section leaders might be just the thing for you! You can give as much or as little time as you want, we’re grateful for any time you can spare us. If you have a young person on a waiting list, get in touch and we might be able to accelerate their joining our sections if you become a leader.

Fundraisers

We have a mission to raise £500 000. That’s right: five hundred thousand pounds. It’s not an easy task, but we’re confident that we’ll make it. If you want to contribute to your local community, what better way than by stepping up and giving some of your free time on evenings and weekends to help raise funds for a new community centre. There’s no experience needed, we all learn together as we go. From grant writing, to organising events, to selling raffle tickets; we need all the help we can get!

Technical committee

We’re looking for people with experience in construction and/or project management to join a new Technical Committee, within the umberella of Davenham Scouts. Our new Scout Hall received planning permission in August 2023. Since then, we’ve continued to move the project forward by starting to discharge some of the planning conditions. We’re looking for a group of experienced professionals who can work together to advise us on technical aspects of the project. We hope our new Technical Committee will meet every few months to discuss the project and advise us on what should be our next steps.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
