Scouts Appeal is a fantastic fundraising recycling programme for Scout Groups across the UK. Our group will earn cash for every reusable mobile phone, PDA and empty printer cartridge recycled - so the more you collect, the more money we will raise!
What to collect Mobile phones and PDAs have a higher value than printer cartridges so will raise the most money. However, cartridges are more plentiful, so collect both! Lots of people have unwanted mobiles in their homes and businesses generally upgrade their handsets each year so ask both individuals and companies to participate in your appeal. Laser and inkjet cartridges are found in printers, fax machines and desktop copiers– so if anyone you know works in an office or has a home computer ask for their used cartridges! The vast majority of mobile phones and cartridges will generate cash, but there are some which don’t have a value.

	The Scouts Appeal benefits so many people. The money we generate can be used to help run our group, buy equipment, fund excursions or anything else we decide. Not only that, your recycling efforts will have a positive impact on our environment. The mobiles you donate will be refurbished and resold or fully recycled. Refurbished mobiles may be sent to developing countries where there are few landlines meaning the person who ends up with your phone might rely on it for their business or to keep in touch with family and friends. Your old mobile could really change someone's life. The printer cartridges you collect will be refilled and returned to the consumer stream as an environmentally friendly product. When mobiles and cartridges are binned they end up in landfill sites where they take hundreds of years to biodegrade. What's more, the toxic chemicals they contain will eventually leak into the soil and pollute the environment. Just think of the millions of mobile phones and cartridges which are binned every year and you'll begin to realise just how much damage they cause to the environment
