About ShelterBox

ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity specialising in emergency shelter.  Their humanitarian aid is delivered in Iconic green ShelterBoxes.  Each one contains a disaster relief tent for up to ten people, water purification equipment, a stove, blankets and other items essential for survival.  ShelterBox responds to disaster as quickly as possible with the aim of helping the people who are in the most need.

One box is designed to help a family of up to 10 people survive and start rebuilding their lives after disaster strikes.  Each box costs £490 and this includes its contents, transport and a highly trained team of volunteers who travel out with boxes, ensuring they reach those in most need.  The contents of a ShelterBox will sometimes vary slightly depending on the diaster and the environment it's going to.  However, a typical ShelterBox contents is shown below.

For our Scouts to attain the Shelterbox badge they have to carry out a series of activities over a 10 month period.

3 July   Ashley, Aaron, Declan, Alex L, Phillip and Jack P manage to raise the final £131 to purchase the first shelter box.  Thanks also go to Katy Galloway (a future leader in the making!) for doing such a good job of organising the boys! 3 Oct   Scouts will have their own table at our table top and bric-a-brac sale, 1-4 pm The Church Hall. Donations to the Scouts table and also Guides and Scouts joint tables very welcome
