Although this page is like a scene from a horror film, below are the Uniformed Leaders of the Group, we also have Non Uniformed Leaders who are as valued and work as hard as Uniformed Leaders.

Group Scout Leader

David Bibby

Dave ensures the effective operation of the Scout Group and the development of Scouting within the Group in accordance with the Purpose, Principles and Policies of The Scout Association
" I joined the Scout Association as a Cub Scout in 1958 and moved on to become a Venture Scout.  In 1985 I became an adult helper with the cubs and joined the scout section in 1989.  I have been Group Scout Leader for 1st Davenham Scouts since 1999.

My hobbies include swimming, walking, travel and I love being with my family which includes four grandchildren."

Assistant Scout Leader

Alastair Kennedy

Alastair manages and leads the operation of the Scout Section. In particular, the planning and delivery of the Balanced Programme to the Section, with the help of Assistant Scout Leaders, Troop Assistants and Young Leaders
"Having been a Cub and then a Scout myself in Frodsham many years ago, I re-started being involved in Scouting when my children joined Moulton Scouts around 2002, becoming their Group Chairman.  When Moulton disbanded in 2003, I became an Assistant Leader at 1st Davenham, and shortly after this was joined by Brian Sinfield, and shortly after this, the Scout Leader left in 2005, and we've been running 1st Davenham Scouts since! Thankfully we now have Tim Molloy with us to add essential variety to our meeting, planning and running!

My personal interests are kayaking, cycling, windsurfing and walking, all of which we have now managed to incorporate into the Scouts' activity programme to a varying degrees"

"Unlike many of my colleagues I was never in Scouts, I first got involved around eight years ago because my eldest son, who had spent a very enjoyable time in Beavers, moved up to Cubs and I was asked if I could help at a few of the outdoor events that they had organised.  So I found my self occasionally hiking, cycling, camping, cooking and even washing up!  I soon recognised that the leaders were  putting their time aside and it just needed a small amount of my time to help keep things going. From there I was asked if I could help with the Scouts as they were short of Leaders, five years later and I am still here.  My eldest son has moved through Scouts and went on to do Explorers and my youngest is enjoying going to Cubs every week.
I hope that the Scouts equally enjoy coming each week, we try to arrange interesting things for them to do.  The dark nights are never easy, when you have 28 boys in the Church Hall it is sometimes challenging to organise the events , run a game and keep them all focused on what we are doing.  Spring and Summer are much easier and I would welcome any mums or dads who would like to join us on  our  outdoor events.  Walking to places like Whitegate, cycling to Marbury  or having an evening out at Manchester Airport are quite good fun and the more adults we have better it is.   So my message to parents is if  you would like to join us on any of the events you see on the programme just say so and we would more then welcome you along.  Thank you to those that already do."

I became a Beaver Leader in April 2004 when my eldest son joined the Beavers.  I have now moved on to become a Scout Leader.  Two of my three children are members of 1st Davenham Scouts and both really enjoy Cubs and Scouts.  It is (usually) very rewarding being a Scout Leader, so different from being Finance Director for a Liverpool based property developer.

My main interests are golf and Manchester United and I also enjoy fell walking and camping.

“I joined the Scouts Association in 1981, I then became a helper in Scouts and Cubs in 1986.  Became Skills Instructor 2003 and I assist  Dave as his PA.  I manage the Groups Database and have been since 2000.  I enjoy IT, I am also a member of Davenham Parish Church, and I like socialising.”

Cub Leader

Marie Lawton

Raksha

Marie manages and leads the operation of the Cub Scout Section. In particular, the planning and delivery of the Balanced Programme to the Section, with the help of Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, Pack Assistants and Young Leaders

"I joined the Movement many years back as a Brownie, moving on to the Guides, and  then the Ranger Movement.

I achieved the Queen's Guide Award, before helping out as a Young Leader with a Brownie Group.

I have been a Cub Leader at Davenham for 13 years, and  have achieved competencies with the BCU in BellBoating, Kayak and Canadian Canoe.

I am also currently working towards a Walking Leader qualification."

Richard Langton

Bagheera

"I have been in Scouting for over 23 years.  I became a helper at Davenham in 1985.  Became a Assistant Cub Leader in 1987.  Have also been a assistant Cub Leader at Lime Kilns (near Edinburgh) and Chesterfield due to working commitments when I had to work away from home.  I also teach Ju Jitsu to juniors and seniors at Crewe.  In addition I am a keen member of Davenham Bowling Club."
Scouting was not part of my youth but since  my children joined I realise how much they have gained from their time in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.    My wife became involved as a parent helper at Beavers and later Cubs until work commitments prevented further regular support.  At that stage, I was "volunteered" to help out and was very impressed with how much the Cub's get from all the activities the group runs.  Unfortunately, all the sections are in great need of more adult support and as I was helping out anyway, it was only a small step to signing up as a regular leader.  Now I'm just starting to learn about all the activities offered in scouting, meeting other leaders and beginning some of the training available.

Beaver Leader

Chris Flower

Vulture

Chris manages and leads the operation of the Beaver Section. In particular, the planning and delivery of the Balanced Programme to the Section, with the help of Assistant Beaver Scout Leaders, Assistants and Young Leaders
"When we were applying for entry to Davenham Beavers for my Son my wife mentioned that there was a long waiting list.  This is ridiculous I said.  If it is so popular then more adults should volunteer to help out and allow more kids to join.  Shortly after I joined Beavers in 2008 learning a valuable lesson about speaking out loud!  I did have hobbies once upon a time but then the kids arrived and now they are my hobby."

I joined Beavers because I was very impressed with all the wonderful and exciting things my eldest son got up to in Beavers and how much he enjoyed himself. So when it was time for my second son to start I decided to become a leader. It has, so far, been interesting and it is enjoyable to plan activities with other people that the
Beavers will enjoy and get something from. Also it was amazing to discover the amount of noise that 24 beavers can make!
